We are proud to support this film, which takes us into the heart of Norway’s mountain landscape and the story of Tungestølen.
Tungestølen has a long and dramatic history – originally built as a tourist cabin in 1910, destroyed by Hurricane Dagmar in 2011, and rebuilt in 2019 with a modern, weather-resistant design by Snøhetta. The cabin stands as a symbol of both nature’s forces and human innovation. In this film, we follow Krister Kopala and Calum Macintyre on a spectacular journey through this majestic landscape.
Over the course of five intense days, they explore glaciers and mountains, challenge themselves on demanding lines, and weave together the story of Tungestølen, Krister’s personal journey, and the deep connection between humans and nature.
As a sponsor, we are excited to help share this unique story – a film that inspires adventure, respect for nature, and an appreciation for the history that has shaped this area. We hope you find this project as fascinating as we do!
Krister Røhme Kopala, 34, grew up in Tromsø but now lives on the west coast of Norway, more precisely in Luster. Nature and adventure have always been central to his life, and ever since he was a child, he’s spent countless hours outdoors during winter—most of them with a snowboard in hand. Over the years, Kopala has become one of the leading figures in his field and is internationally recognized for riding some of the steepest and most challenging mountain faces in the world. In addition to his snowboarding career, Kopala works as a power line technician—physical work that allows him to balance his job with his passion for the mountains. He is also known for being open about past struggles with substance abuse and how snowboarding became a powerful and positive force in his life.Kopala has taken part in several film projects, including his own film The White Giant, which documents his attempt to ride the steepest lines on Jiehkkevárri in Lyngen. He also hosts his own YouTube series, The Kope Show, and you might have seen him in the NRK series Eksponert.
